Freedom Tips, and more!

Sometimes it’s the simple things we need to remember, but often forget, during the various holidays. Case in point, the Fourth of July. While most of us are aware we’re celebrating the nation’s freedom from the British, many of us overlook the basic rights inherent in being an American. For example, you have the ability to choose many, many things. You can choose a religion, a political stance, the type of music you listen to, who your friends are, even what you eat, where and when. At Purely You Spa, we have chosen to be an organic day spa because of the freedoms this affords our staff and clientele – freedom from toxic chemicals, freedom to de-stress and relax, naturally. I don’t want to get too carried away here, after all, July 4th is also about the parties, parades and fireworks. But, for a moment, let’s look at some of the ways we can liberate ourselves from the toxic people, places and things in our lives:

• Reduce, reuse and recycle – you know the adage…if you haven’t worn it, used it or looked at it in 6 months, it’s time to go. Also, recycle your cans, plastics and the like. We only have as much freedom as we do space to enjoy it!

Valentine’s Day SELF LOVE!

It’s February which means it’s almost St. Valentine’s Day!  For many, this is a terrific time of year – celebrating our special love! For others, it’s a reminder that we’ve been “unlucky in love.” Whether you fall into one of these two categories or somewhere in between, we all need to nurture at least one relationship in our lives first and foremost…the relationship we have with ourselves. The truth is that there is really only one person you spend every moment of every day with – YOU! So, the question becomes “How are you nurturing your relationship with yourself?”I’m fond of saying “you can’t give what you don’t have” which means that you have to make sure your love account is full before you start withdrawing from it to give to others. I know there are voices in your head saying things like: “Yeah, yeah, yeah…I’ll get on that after I do the 10 loads of laundry, drop the kids off at school, take grandma to the bank, complete that project… I don’t have time.” To many of us, the idea of self-care is foreign. But, it’s critically important and something we need to do as it truly does add to the quality of your life and, therefore, the quality of your relationships with others. What this means is not just taking care of yourself by getting rest when you are tired or going to the doctor/holistic practitioner when ill, but eating well, exercising regularly and scheduling time for whatever your version of “play” is. Organic Living!

Learn What Going ORGANIC Really Means to YOU – And Look & Feel Great Doing It!

For those of us dedicated to making healthy choices, and making the lovely leap into an organic lifestyle, it’s tough out there! With an overload of (most often inaccurate) information, and those oh-so crafty advertising folks, it is hard to determine what is truly an organic choice. And with a tunnel-vision focus on weight loss at times, especially in the media, it is even harder to understand the long-term benefits of a lifestyle change.

Teen Skin Care Education – Clear Skin is Beautiful!

Teen skin care – it’s a topic we visit every year because, hey, we’ve all been there!

Blemishes, blackheads, bleak skin, and the “blah” feeling that goes along with them. The discomfort is bad enough, but for tweens, teens, and young adults, having to deal with it while they juggle school, sports, friends, and everything else makes it even harder! Don’t worry, as always, Purely You Spa has you covered with this year’s fresh look and easy-to-follow natural tips towards feeling fabulous for fall and forever.

Let’s start simple (sorry, we know that word rhymes with “pimple”) – when you look at the leading causes of acne, it’s no wonder teens struggle the most with skin care! Some of the top culprits include stress, not having time to wash your face, hormones, dairy or sugar consumption, medications, and using new or harmful skin care products – basically we just described every teenager’s life on the whole planet!

But, have no fear – your skin can be clear! Here are a variety of easy-to-do changes you can make into helpful categories to see drastic improvement in less than a month. Read on!

Stress Management
•    Figure out what’s causing you to feel stressed.
•    Take time to understand how you react to that stress.
•    Find effective ways to deal with stress before it builds up and causes a breakout.

This month in the Purely You Spa Blog we are going to focus our first post on combining fact with style. We want to share the amazing benefits of Vitamin D, and then show you how you can get them on our newly renovated and truly chic SkySide Patio!
